Protecting Your Identity

    Protecting Your Identity

Recent vulnerabilities such as the Heartbleed bug, which shut down CRA’s website at the height of tax season, or the now-patched bug in Internet Explorer that allowed hackers to secretly take control of a computer, remind us of the need to protect personal information. We want to do everything possible to ensure none of the personal information you entrust to TPC lands in the wrong hands.

    Securing Information

Alarm systems protect any hard copy information on file in TPC’s offices; our physical locations are secure. Internally, our computer systems are password protected and secure, with multiple backups in place. The only potential area of concern is email. Unencrypted emails could possibly be read by determined individuals while in transit from recipient to sender.

    Encrypting Emails via e-Courier.ca

In 2012, TPC Financial began using e-Courier (www.e-courier.ca) to encrypt emails containing sensitive information. This was not in response to an industry requirement, but was a proactive step towards ensuring our clients’ security. In order to encrypt a message, the sender needs to send the message from e-Courier.ca and the recipient needs to retrieve the message at e-Courier’s site. We realize that sending and receiving emails via the e-Courier website adds a few steps to our email routines; however, after consulting industry professionals, we believe this is the best way to safeguard your information.

    Your Free e-Courier Account

Most of TPC Financial’s existing clients have been given free e-Courier accounts. If you need another copy of your e-Courier user ID and password, or if you need a new account, please email info@tpcfinancial.com.

Moving forward, all electronic correspondence from TPC containing sensitive information or attachments will be sent via e-Courier. If e-Courier is too inconvenient, we can instead send the information via fax. We strongly encourage you to use e-Courier when sending sensitive information to TPC.

Our goal has always been to provide the most in-depth and comprehensive service in the industry. This increased security is another way we can provide you with unrivaled service while helping you reach your many financial goals.
